A university of music and dramatic arts in Salzburg, founded in the nineteenth century as an outgrowth of an institution bearing Mozart's name, and today among Europe's most established music conservatories. An important point before planning: this is a working educational institution rather than a museum. There are no exhibits and no regular tours, and the buildings serve students and teaching. What a visitor can reach are the concerts. And that is where the value lies: the university runs a wide programme of student and faculty concerts through the academic year, many of them very cheap or entirely free.
