With reservations. The work addresses migration, war and suffering directly and forcefully, and some of it may disturb young children. The building and courtyard are calm and fine, but judge the content by your children's ages.
North of the historic centre in the Molinillo district, about ten minutes on foot from the Plaza de la Constitución. It is off the usual route, and that is part of its value: an ordinary residential district where you see the Málaga people live in.

A museum devoted to Jorge Rando, the painter and sculptor born in Málaga, in a converted former convent north of the historic centre. Rando lived and worked for many years in Germany and his manner belongs to expressionism: broad brushwork, strong colour and hard human subjects — migration, poverty, war, Africa. This is not comfortable art and is not meant to be. What separates the museum from an ordinary artist's gallery is that it is a working institution: it contains an active studio, workshops and lectures, and you may see work being made rather than only hung. Entry is entirely free, which is unusual for a museum of this quality. The building is part of the pleasure: convent cloisters and a quiet inner courtyard in a residential district, among the calmest places in Málaga despite being close to the centre.
