The Kato Mili windmills are Mykonos' signature: five white cylinders in straw caps on the hill edge above Little Venice โ of sixteen that ground the Aegean's wheat for centuries (16th on) when the island was the sea roads' bread station, stopping in the early 1900s to become earth's most famous windmill row. The scene is a two-moment commodity: early morning alone with whiteness and wind โ and sunset as the canvas everyone seeks: the sun dropping between the mills, Little Venice igniting below. It is a point, not an activity: fifteen photographic minutes suffice, the meaning in its place on the walk โ between town and Little Venice where you pass by law. Boni's mill higher east works as a small seasonal museum for those wanting an interior.
