Nosal if you have half a day — short, clear and with an excellent view. With a full day and reasonable fitness, the glacial lake Morskie Oko is the most famous destination in the Tatras but is very crowded in season. For a higher mountain experience, the Gąsienicowa valley. Avoid the Orla Perć entirely without experience.
Rapid change is the main danger: the weather turns within minutes from clear to fog, rain and wind. Thunderstorms are common on summer afternoons and exposed rocky summits are the worst place to be in them, with lightning injuries every year. Start early and come down before midday if the forecast mentions storms. Do not rely on a clear morning sky.

A rocky summit of one thousand two hundred and six metres at the northern edge of the Tatras, the nearest real peak to Zakopane and the easiest entry into the mountains. What makes it the first choice for anyone without a full day: the climb from Kuźnice takes only about an hour to ninety minutes, and the trail is clear and well used and requires no climbing experience. Yet it gives a genuine mountain view — over Zakopane below, and south to the High Tatra chain with its rock summits. That balance is rare: most Tatra peaks need five to eight hours there and back. Points that need attention: the summit is rocky, the final stretch of trail is steep and slippery after rain, and the edges are exposed. Do not climb it in windy or stormy weather. In winter it needs winter equipment. The area is inside Tatra National Park and the daily entry ticket is required at the trailheads. Mountain boots are necessary.
