The Organ Hall is a grand historic building in central Chișinău, on the main boulevard near the City Hall. Its facade has Corinthian columns and white stone ornament, and inside is a concert hall dominated by a large organ with metal pipes. The building went up between 1892 and 1901 as the city's public bank, and it is now a protected architectural monument on the national register. In 1978 it became a concert hall under the name «Organ Hall», fitted with an organ made by the Rieger-Kloss company. It is a national institution devoted to chamber and organ music. You see the facade and columns from the boulevard, and attend an evening organ or chamber concert to hear the organ and see the hall inside. The hall is on Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard in the city centre, beside the City Hall, so it fits into a walk around the old central streets. Check the concert programme before you go, as the hall opens for performances rather than for visits, book early for popular concerts, and dress smartly for the evening.
