Kuala Lumpur's best-known upmarket shopping centre, in the heart of Bukit Bintang, opened in 2007 on the site of the city's oldest girls' school; the development also holds a hotel, serviced apartments and an office tower, and a new wing was added in 2016. Its many floors bring together international luxury fashion houses, mid-range brands and electronics stores, with a lane of Japanese restaurants and shops, a large food court with many halal stalls, and cafés and restaurants of every cuisine. It is known for its lavish seasonal decorations for Ramadan and Eid, Chinese New Year and the year-end holidays, and for the fountain at its main entrance where visitors gather for photographs. It usually opens daily from ten in the morning to ten at night. You can walk straight in from Bukit Bintang MRT station, and a covered, air-conditioned pedestrian walkway links it to the Petronas Towers area, about a quarter of an hour on foot away from sun and rain. Around it are Bukit Bintang's streets with their Arab and local restaurants.
