The Peninsula Paris is a modern hotel inside an old building: the house dates to 1908, served as a historic hotel and then a conference centre, and was fully restored before reopening in 2014 after years of work. That history explains what distinguishes it. The facade and public rooms are preserved in their original manner, while the bedrooms are among the most technically advanced in Paris — integrated control of lighting, curtains and climate, and operating detail engineered with an Asian precision closer to Hong Kong hotels than to French tradition. The rooftop is the clearest strength: a restaurant with an open view taking in both the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, hard to match in this part of the city. The Avenue Kléber address puts you minutes from the Arc de Triomphe and from Place du Trocadéro — the best vantage point for photographing the Eiffel Tower. The district is quieter than the Champs-Élysées, an advantage for anyone who prefers luxury without the crush.
The George V is older and stronger on French tradition and restaurants; the Peninsula is newer technically, quieter in location, and closer to Trocadéro. Choosing between them is a matter of preference, not of level.
The rooftop restaurant generally takes outside visitors with a reservation, and demand is high, especially around sunset. Book days ahead rather than on the day.
