A group of historic buildings on a rock at the eastern foot of Turtle Hill in Hanyang, with the Han River to the north and the Yangtze to the east, facing the Yellow Crane Tower across the river. Its main tower was built in 1547–1549 by the prefect of Hanyang in memory of Yu the Great, the legendary tamer of floods. The tower takes its name from a line by the Tang poet Cui Hao describing Hanyang's trees under a clear sky across the river, and it was counted among the region's «four famous towers». It burned in 1911 and was rebuilt in 1983, 17.5 m tall, and beside it stand an old hall honouring Yu the Great and the Tiemen gate. Entry is free with booking, Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm, last entry 4.30 pm, per visitor guides, with views of the First Yangtze River Bridge and the Yellow Crane Tower.
