The Robevi Family House is one of the finest old houses in Ohrid, a tall white townhouse with overhanging wooden upper floors above the lanes of the old town, built for a family of wealthy merchants. The first house was finished in 1827; after an outlaw burned it down in 1861-62, it was rebuilt in 1863-64 by the master builder Todor Petkov from the village of Gari near Debar, and divided into two halves for the brothers Konstantin and Atanas Robev. Today it belongs to the National Museum in Ohrid. The ground floor shows stone inscriptions from the Ohrid area, including two torsos of the goddess Isis, the floors above hold archaeological finds from ancient and medieval times, and the top floor shows the house as the family lived in it, with carved wooden ceilings and furniture. There is a small entry fee. The house stands in the old town close to the Church of Saint Sophia, so it fits easily into a walk through the upper town.
