A long coastal park along the shore of Shenzhen Bay, covering about 108 hectares; opened in 2011, it's one of the city's most visited parks, with about twelve million visitors a year. The park has two parts: the coastal leisure zone in the southwest, with paths, plazas and cafés, and the mangrove coastal eco-park in the east, inside a nature reserve that shelters many migratory birds. Visitors walk and cycle on paths running kilometres along the water's edge, with the bay's bridges and the Hong Kong skyline across the water, and people gather at sunset to watch the sun go down over the bay. Entry is free and open all day; just before sunset is the best time, and winter is the season for migratory birds. Bring water and a hat, as there's little shade on the coastal paths.
