Slovakia''s only national technical museum, in an old burgher house on Hlavná square itself. The collection covers **mining, metalwork, astronomy, printing, electricity, telecommunications and transport**, and includes working machines that staff demonstrate in operation. Two sections stand out. The first is the **historic chemistry laboratory**: a complete early twentieth-century laboratory reassembled with its glassware, furnaces and shelving as it was. The second is the **electrical power** department, with large generators and machines of the industrial era, including displays on the region''s pioneers of electricity. The building also holds a small **planetarium** with scheduled shows. Note: the museum has a branch outside the city — the **Aviation Museum** near Košice airport, with military and civil aircraft in the open. Separate ticket, entirely different site. It is the best indoor option in Košice for a wet day, particularly with school-age children.

Four, all in or near the centre. The **Technical Museum** is the best with school-age children — working machines and a planetarium. The **East Slovak Museum** matters most for history, and holds the gold treasure. **Mikluš Prison** is smaller and more intense, though its lower section is harsh. And **St Elisabeth''s Cathedral** with its crypt, if the rain is light. ⚠ Note that **the whole of Hlavná is pedestrian** with arcades and cafés, so moving between the four is short even in rain. ⚠ And all of them are **closed on Mondays** except the cathedral — a point that ruins a whole day if not allowed for.
