The Trinkhalle is a long colonnaded building in central Baden-Baden, put up in the 1840s. The idea was that visitors would drink the hot spring water as a cure, so a covered walkway was built for them to stroll along while drinking. Its best feature is the colonnade itself: about ninety metres long, with fourteen large murals along the inner wall showing legends and tales from the Black Forest. They are painted in muted colours and cover the wall end to end. The building is free and open, and you can walk the colonnade at any time. Inside there is a tourist office and sometimes a small café. A hot spring tap still runs at certain times. The visit is short — twenty minutes — and it sits directly on Lichtentaler Allee, so combine it with that and the nearby casino.

Twenty minutes, yes — it is free and on your route along Lichtentaler Allee. The murals are lovely and most passers-by miss them. But it is not a destination on its own.
