The highest hill on Hong Kong Island at 552 m and every visitor's first stop: from up here spreads the city's most famous view, a forest of skyscrapers on both shores of Victoria Harbour, the hills of Kowloon behind them and scattered islands on the horizon. Most visitors reach «The Peak» area at Victoria Gap on the historic Peak Tram, arriving at the crescent-shaped Peak Tower with the «Sky Terrace 428» deck on its roof, 428 m above sea level, and the Peak Galleria with its restaurants and shops next door. If you like walking, a level loop along Lugard and Harlech Roads circles the summit through the trees, revealing the city, the harbour and Lantau and Lamma islands from different angles. It takes about an hour, it's free, and it saves paying for the deck. Going up by bus or taxi costs only the fare, while the «Sky Terrace 428» deck is ticketed; a return tram ride with the deck is about HK$182 for adults, per visitor guides. Come just before sunset to see the city by day and then lit up, and pick a clear day, as haze hides the view on some days.
