One of China's best-known theme parks, holding about 130 scaled-down replicas of the world's famous landmarks; it opened on 18 June 1994, when travel abroad was hard for most Chinese people, to bring the world to one place, and it draws more than three million visitors a year. Visitors wander between a replica Eiffel Tower rising over the park, the Egyptian pyramids, the Sphinx, the Taj Mahal and landmarks from Europe, Asia and the Americas, and the park also has water rides in its Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls replicas. The park stages evening shows, the models are lit up at night, and the top of the small Eiffel Tower looks out over the park and the surrounding districts of Shenzhen. Tickets are about CNY 220 by day and 110 in the evening, per visitor guides. Allow at least half a day; Splendid China and Happy Valley are next door, and Window of the World metro station is at the gate.
