An old lane quarter in Liwan, west Guangzhou, running from Enning Road in the south to the Lizhiwan creek in the north. Its houses and lanes have been restored since 2012, and it opened in 2016 as a quarter of small shops, cafés and craft studios that keeps the look of old southern Chinese homes. In the 1920s and 1930s the streets around Enning Road were home to Cantonese opera troupes and their stars. The quarter holds the Bruce Lee family house, which belonged to his father, the actor Lee Hoi-chuen, the homes of other performers, and the Cantonese Opera Art Museum, built in the southern Chinese garden style, with a traditional stage in its garden where shows are held regularly. Entry to the quarter is free, evenings are the best time to stroll, and Huangsha metro station on lines 1 and 6 is close by. Pork is common in the local snacks, so ask about ingredients.
