A high plateau within the Wulingyuan area, the best-known and busiest part of the park, whose viewpoints look over a forest of giant stone pillars rising from the valley, including the pillar linked to the film «Avatar». A footpath runs along the plateau's edge between famous viewpoints, including the Enchanting Terrace, overlooking some of the finest pillars, and the First Bridge Under Heaven, a natural stone bridge hung between two peaks over a deep gorge. Visitors reach the plateau by the glass Bailong Elevator from the valley floor or by park bus, and the views are at their finest when mist creeps between the pillars after rain. Entry is included in the national park ticket, about CNY 240 for four days, per visitor guides. Come early, before the tour groups, as the viewpoints fill up by mid-morning, and beware of the wild monkeys: don't feed them.
