Bird Paradise is a large aviary park in the Mandai Wildlife Reserve in northern Singapore, opened on 8 May 2023 to replace the old Jurong Bird Park. It covers about 17 hectares with huge walk-in aviaries, and suits families and children very well. The Mandai group announced in 2016 that Jurong Bird Park would close and its entire collection would move to Mandai, forming one district with the Zoo, Night Safari and River Wonders. The opening was delayed a little by building conditions and the pandemic. A Singaporean firm designed the park, with double the walk-in aviaries of the old one. You move through zones modelled on different parts of the world, seeing colourful hornbills, scarlet ibis, bright parrots and crowned pigeons walking close by. Shows such as Wings of the World take place at the Sky Amphitheatre, with birds flying over the audience. Being so near them in the open aviaries is a pleasure, as long as you keep clear of their path. It is 1.1 km in a straight line from River Wonders and 1.3 km from the Zoo, and combined tickets are available. Start in the morning to avoid the heat, and check show times when you arrive. Do not feed the birds outside set activities, and do not touch them. Sources differ on opening at 9 or 9.30 am, so check.
