The world's first nocturnal zoo, in Mandai in northern Singapore, opened on 26 May 1994 on 35 hectares of rainforest beside Singapore Zoo and the Upper Seletar Reservoir. It houses more than 900 animals of over 100 species in settings that mimic their natural habitats, seen under soft lighting like moonlight, at the time when many animals are most active. A visit usually starts with an open-sided tram ride with commentary through the park's zones, followed by walking trails to see other animals up close. There are evening cultural shows at the entrance. Tickets are S$58 for adults and S$41 for children for non-residents, per the official Mandai site. Flash photography is banned to protect the animals; book ahead and arrive as evening falls.
