An Ottoman family house built in 1635, one of the best-preserved houses of the period in Mostar and a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It still belongs to descendants of the Bišćević family, who have turned it into a private museum of Bosnian family life in the Ottoman era. In the eastern tradition the house is divided into men's quarters (selamlik) and women's quarters (harem), around a stone-paved courtyard, with a wooden upper floor of balconies and lattice screens. The rooms are furnished as they were: low divans and brightly coloured hand-woven carpets, carved wooden ceilings, decorated cupboards, copper pots and hammered trays, traditional costumes and a kitchen with old utensils. The house shows how well-off families in Mostar lived centuries ago. Tickets are about 4 KM, and it opens daily from 9:00 to 18:00 per visitor guides, with hours that may change in winter. It is a few minutes' walk from the Old Bridge.
