Very much so: trains, moving models and vehicles to climb into. It is among the best family options in Dresden, especially on a cold or wet day when walking outside is unappealing.
An hour and a half to two hours. It is mid-sized across several floors. Its position in the heart of the old town means you step straight out to the Fürstenzug, the Frauenkirche and Brühl's Terrace.
Partly. The main panels are in German and English, but much of the detail is German only. The exhibits themselves make sense visually, so the language gap does not spoil the visit, particularly with children.

The Dresden Transport Museum occupies the historic Johanneum building in the heart of the old town — the same building whose outer wall carries the Fürstenzug mural. It presents the history of transport: steam locomotives, old trams, cars, bicycles, aircraft and ships. Its strongest feature is a large model railway collection, together with full-size locomotives inside the halls. It suits families particularly well, since many exhibits can be approached and some climbed into. Its position is excellent too: right among the main sights, which makes it a good choice on a wet day between two visits.
