The Gazi Mehmed Pasha Hammam, also called the Prizren Hammam, is an Ottoman bathhouse in the old town near the Kukli Mehmed Bey and Emin Pasha mosques. Most sources credit it to Gazi Mehmed Pasha, sanjak-bey of Shkodra, who built it in the 1560s and 1570s, though others date it to 1498. It is a «double hammam», used by men and women at the same time, with the men's section slightly larger than the women's. It has all the parts of a traditional bath: an entrance for receiving guests and serving drinks, a changing room, a central hall for washing and sweating, and a boiler room on the south side. Its walls of stone and brick are about 90 centimetres thick; two domes on drums rise over the cold section and nine small domes over the warm part. The hammam underwent careful restoration and conservation work in 2022 and is sometimes used for exhibitions and events, so check whether it is open before you go; its domed roofs are worth a look from outside either way.
