A white marble royal memorial near Mehrangarh Fort, built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in 1899 in memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II; by the royal family's tradition it is the cremation ground of the rulers of Marwar, and it is nicknamed the «Taj Mahal of Marwar». It is built of extremely thin, carefully polished sheets of Makrana marble that glow with a warm light when the sun shines on them, with fine carving on its walls and domes and portraits of the rulers of Jodhpur inside. Terraced gardens, carved stone pavilions and a small lake surround it, with a lovely view of the fort towering on the hill opposite, in a calm setting away from the city's bustle. Foreign visitors pay about ₹100, and it opens daily 09:00–17:00, per visitor guides. It's on the way up to the fort, so the two combine easily; morning or late-afternoon light suits it best.
