One of Chongqing's strangest and most photographed sights, a station on monorail Line 2 set on the sixth to eighth floors of a nineteen-storey apartment block, so the train seems to pierce the building as it enters and leaves. The station opened in 2005, and despite the stories, the building and the station were built together as one structure; the line was not bored through an existing block, and special equipment shields the surrounding flats from the noise. Below the station is a dedicated viewing platform where visitors wait to photograph the train rushing into the building, a picture of a hill city where roads and buildings overlap on many levels. Watching from the platform is free, trains pass every few minutes, and you can ride Line 2 itself at the normal metro fare to pass through the building.
