A fairy-tale mansion in Shanghai's old French concession, built in 1936 by the Swedish shipping magnate Eric Moller; by legend its design comes from a sketch his daughter drew of a castle she had seen in a dream. Its style blends Scandinavian, Gothic and Tudor, with brown pointed gables, turrets and slender spires and Chinese touches such as glazed tiles, all set behind a broad lawn. Renovated from 2001 with its original style kept, it is now a hotel. The villa can be admired free from the street and its front gate, and it is close to the other old villa streets of the area.
