The Emilio Caraffa Provincial Museum of Fine Arts is Córdoba's main art museum, set at the edge of Parque Sarmiento in a neoclassical building completed in 1916 under the architect Juan Kronfuss. It is named after Emilio Caraffa, an Italian-born painter who was a pioneer of art teaching in the city. The curved original building lets daylight into several of its galleries, and a modern cubic wing was later added, giving nine exhibition rooms in all. Rather than a fixed display, it shows changing exhibitions drawn from its collection and from artists of Córdoba and the rest of Argentina. It opens Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 7 pm. Entry is 5,000 pesos and free on Wednesdays, and a combined ticket also covers the Evita Museum in the nearby Palacio Ferreyra.
