Palacio Ferreyra is one of Córdoba's most beautiful buildings, designed by the French architect Ernest-Paul Sanson with his son Maurice between 1912 and 1916 and completed in 1919 as the home of the physician Martín Ferreyra and his large family. It was built in French neoclassical style with plant and animal ornament and a metal-and-glass roof, set in a garden by the landscape designer Carlos Thays, the largest and best-preserved private garden in an Argentine city. Since 17 October 2007 it has been the Evita Fine Arts Museum, showing Córdoba province's collection of paintings, drawings, photographs and sculpture from the nineteenth century to today, with a strong presence of Córdoba artists, plus temporary shows. The heart of the palace is its grand central hall, with a great staircase, a balcony running all round, and a ceiling that seems to float. It opens Tuesday to Sunday, with free entry on Wednesdays. It stands beside Parque Sarmiento and Plaza España.
