The Museumsbrücke is a short stone bridge over the river Pegnitz in the middle of Nuremberg's old town. The bridge itself is plain, but the view from it is why people come. From it you see the Heilig-Geist-Spital, a fourteenth-century building standing directly over the water on stone arches. It looks as though it floats on the river, and it is one of the best-known images of Nuremberg. The bridge is free, always open and in the heart of the pedestrian area. Cafés and shops surround it, and it is a natural crossing point between the main market square and the rest of the old town. Right beside it stands the bronze Ship of Fools fountain, a striking modern work worth two minutes of your time.
