The Parque das Nações Indígenas (Park of the Indigenous Nations) is Campo Grande's great urban park, about 116 hectares around a lake fed by the spring of the Prosa stream. A fully paved four-kilometre walking track circles the lake, with viewing piers, sports courts and a skating track, and its six entrances are named after Indigenous peoples of Mato Grosso do Sul, among them the Guarani, Kaiowá, Kadiwéu and Terena. On a small island in the lake stands the Guaicuru Horseman, a seven-metre sculpture by Anor Mendes honouring the Guaicuru, a people who made horse breeding part of their way of life. The park also holds the Museu das Culturas Dom Bosco, known as the Indian Museum, with a large collection on Indigenous cultures, and a museum of contemporary art. It opens daily from 6:00 to 21:00; swimming and fishing in the lake are banned, and the Bioparque Pantanal is next door.
