Mucuripe Beach is a Fortaleza beach near the port quays, continuing Meireles beach to the east. Its promenade is a little narrower than Meireles's but wide enough to draw people for strolls, walks and watching football on the sand pitches. Trees and coconut palms line the seafront, the sand is light and the sea calm, shifting between green and blue with the weather. Fortaleza has many traditional jangada sailing rafts set out for tourist photos, but at Mucuripe they still truly provide a living for many fishing families. At the end of Avenida Beira-Mar lies the fish and seafood market, where you can admire the abundance of fish, lobster, squid and shellfish, buy small portions and have them cooked at stalls in the market itself. Boat trips that show the city from a different angle also leave from Mucuripe.
