A Protestant church on an 8 m knoll on Jiangsu Road in the old town, built between April 1908 and October 1910 to a German design in the Jugendstil manner, and one of the finest and most typical German buildings of that era in Qingdao. It stands out for its yellow walls, red roofs and the curving green top of its bell tower, which rises 36.47 m with mechanical clocks still working on three of its faces, so locals call it the «clock tower». The church looks south to the Yellow Sea, with Signal Hill Park beside it to the east. Tickets cost CNY 10, open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Sundays from 11.30 am, after the service, per visitor guides; visitors are asked to keep quiet.
