Modern art on a lakeshore: the Sara Hildén Art Museum (1979) is a low concrete-and-glass building among trees on the Näsijärvi shore in the Särkänniemi area, holding the collection of the fashion merchant Sara Hildén — among Finland's most important modern and contemporary holdings: Picasso, Miró, Bacon, Klee and Giacometti alongside leading Finnish artists from the 1960s to today. Exhibitions are mostly temporary, two or three a year with international names, and the permanent collection rotates — so the display changes with every visit. The sculpture garden on the shore is free, and the big windows look over the lake and the tower. A quiet hour for lovers of modern art, paired with the Näsinneula tower on one walk along the peninsula.
