One decisive rule: all tickets release online in a single batch for a fixed date exactly six weeks ahead, at 10am Amsterdam time โ set an alarm for that day and book the instant it opens. No queue, no window, no exception: arrive without a booking and you are turned away.
From about ten yes โ indeed one of the deepest history lessons for them โ but the place is affecting and emotionally heavy, the spaces tight and the stairs very steep. For younger children it may confuse without preparation; read them Anne's story beforehand.
An hour to ninety minutes unhurried โ the route is one-way through the warehouse, the annexe, the diary room and the finale. Do not rush: the slow, silent passage is part of the experience, and the evening visit is quieter and more affecting.

The Anne Frank House is not an ordinary museum but a place where it happened: here, behind a secret bookcase in a canal-side warehouse on the Prinsengracht, the Jewish girl Anne Frank hid with her family and four others for two full years (1942โ1944) from the Nazis โ and here she wrote the diary that became the Holocaust's most famous testimony and, after the Bible, one of the most read books on earth.
