The Bosque dos Buritis, in Goiânia's Setor Oeste, is the city's oldest park and its oldest landscape heritage, set aside as green space in the original city plan. Named after the buriti, the palm of the Cerrado, it covers 141,500 m² of trees, lawns and three artificial lakes fed by the Buriti stream. One lake has a fountain whose jet reaches about 50 metres, described as the tallest in South America. The park also holds the Goiânia Museum of Art, a free arts centre and the Monument to World Peace, which keeps soil brought from many countries.
