Copernicus is central Europe's first playground of the mind: over four hundred interactive experiments, all hands-on — tornadoes you conjure, earthquakes you ride, a Foucault pendulum toppling its pins by the earth's turning before you, robots and live laboratories — its philosophy try it yourself behind barely one pane of glass, named for the native son who stopped the sun and moved the earth. Its wings run by age: Buzz! for under-sixes in their safe world, teenagers monopolising the human and motion halls — the Heavens planetarium adjoining with star shows and dome films (separate ticket) — and its roof a grass garden on the river. On the Vistula bank by the bridge — and online booking is near-obligatory: Warsaw's families fill it and schools own weekday mornings. Make it a full half-day and pair it with the boulevard walk: the wildest-shored river of Europe's capitals.
