A historic street in the heart of old Jinan, its name meaning «water lily street». It runs 432 m north to south, 4.6 m wide, from the old Confucian temple at its north end to the modern Quancheng shopping road in the south, and its history goes back more than two thousand years. It was once the city's administrative, financial and commercial centre; a channel of clear spring water runs alongside it, so the wealthy built their homes here. It takes its name from the Furong Spring on the street, and with nearby Qushuiting Street it forms Jinan's oldest quarter. Wandering is free at any hour; snack stalls and small shops line it today and it gets busy in the evening. Halal food isn't guaranteed here, and the Muslim quarter around Jinan's Great Southern Mosque lies a short way west.
