A modern museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District on the waterfront, opened on 3 July 2022 in partnership with the Palace Museum in Beijing, showing treasures from the Forbidden City's collection alongside art from around the world. It was designed by the Hong Kong firm Rocco Design Architects on 30,500 square metres; its form draws on ancient Chinese bronze vessels and the axis of the Forbidden City, and it holds galleries, a theatre and a restaurant. The displays range from paintings, porcelain and textiles to bronzes, furniture and imperial objects, with temporary exhibitions changing through the year, and its terraces look out over Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong Island skyline. General admission is HK$70; it opens 10:00–18:00, until 20:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays, and is closed on Tuesdays, per the museum's website. Book ahead for holidays and pair it with the M+ museum next door.
