Chongqing's most famous sight, an eleven-storey complex built against a steep cliff on the south bank of the Jialing River in the style of the hill city's traditional houses on stilts, opened in 2006 with shops, restaurants and hotels. Many compare it to the famous bathhouse in the 2001 Japanese animated film «Spirited Away», which has made it one of the most photographed places in China, especially since 2016, when pictures of its night lights spread on social media. Visitors move between floors by lift and stairs, entering at the top at street level and leaving at the bottom on the riverbank; one floor holds a food market with the fiery spices the city is known for, and at the top is a platform over the river. Entry is free and it stays open late; after dark is best, when every floor lights up, and crowds are heavy on holidays. The best view of it is from the opposite bank or the nearby Qiansimen Bridge.
