A historic aerial cableway over the Yangtze, linking Yuzhong with the southern Nan'an bank, opened in 1987 as everyday transport for residents before the many bridges were built, and listed among the city's protected historic structures in 2009. The ride takes a few minutes in a cabin holding dozens of passengers, high above the wide river, with superb views of Yuzhong's skyscrapers packed onto the hills, the boats passing below and the bridges. The cableway has become a symbol of the hill city and one of its best-known experiences, and its southern station looks out on a panorama of the skyline, especially in the evening. Tickets are about CNY 30 one way, the approved maximum since January 2025, per visitor guides. Queues are very long on holidays and weekend evenings, so ride in the morning or on a weekday.
