The new generation turned it interactive: you work the locks by hand, load containers, fly planes by button — indoor wings telling 'how Holland made water' as immersive shows, and summer's lit evenings a second enchanted edition. Its name is a testament: George Maduro, Caribbean-Dutch resistance hero dead in Dachau — his parents building a monument that laughs: its profits a children's charity for seventy years.
