On the third floor of the yellow house on Getreidegasse, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on 27 January 1756 — the most famous musical address on earth: the family's actual flat of his prodigy childhood, now a museum that holds the heart with its relics: his tiny childhood violin, a lock of hair, family letters, the original portraits. The display tells the miracle without inflation: a child composing at five, touring Europe's courts at six — and the rooms themselves, floorboards and all, carry the imagining where needed. The street below is a second tale: Getreidegasse with its gilded iron guild signs is Austria's loveliest historic shopping lane — the visit doubles by nature.
