The Military Police Museum of São Paulo State conserves, studies and exhibits the heritage of the state's Military Police and the forces that preceded it. Professor Vinício Stein Campos founded it on 11 August 1958 as a historical and educational museum, and it has belonged to the state Public Security Secretariat since 1976. It is in the Bom Retiro district, in the former headquarters of the Military Hospital of the Public Forces, a building designed by the architect Ramos de Azevedo in 1896. Its collection of about 10,000 items includes uniforms, badges, medals, furniture and vehicles, and objects linked to the 1932 Constitutionalist Revolution, alongside a library of some 8,000 titles and a historical archive open for consultation. It suits lovers of military history and architecture; check opening times.
