Innsbruck's town hall in the city centre, a complex combining historic buildings with a contemporary glass addition completed in 2002 that holds a shopping arcade and offices. What draws a visitor is not the administrative building but the tower attached to it: a viewing platform on the upper floor known as the roof bar, with a restaurant beside it, and a view taking in central Innsbruck with the Nordkette mountain range immediately behind. That view is what makes the place worth mentioning: Innsbruck is a city walled in by mountains on both sides, and seeing it from height in the centre makes that geography immediately clear — a city in a narrow valley between two rock masses. Access to the viewing platform is by nominal ticket or with a purchase in the café depending on the arrangement. Do not confuse it with the historic City Tower nearby, a separate fifteenth-century building with its own page and a different view.

This is a contemporary building with a lift and a wider, more distant view. The first is finer historically, the second easier and more comprehensive.
As a short stop within a walk of the centre, yes, especially if you are not going up the Nordkette. If you are taking the Nordkette cable car, the view from there is far higher and wider and this becomes optional.
