The stair is exposed and steep; the height-shy can settle for the Behind-the-Walls promenade below, lovely in itself.

The best free view of Brașov: the White Tower is a stone half-circle built in 1494 on the slope of Warthe hill outside the walls to guard the city's north-western flank — reached by a winding stone stair of two hundred steps from the "Behind the Walls" promenade along the Graft stream, and from its top the whole old town opens with red roofs, the Black Church and Mount Tâmpa facing you. On the bank below is the small Graft Bastion over the channel, and east of it the twin Black Tower on its rock — both taken in on a single walk along the shaded promenade beneath the walls, Brașov's loveliest at sunset. Inside is a small museum of the craft guilds that defended the walls, which may close without notice; the view from the outer terrace is the point in any case.
