The Ibero-American Cultural Axis, formerly the Funarte Cultural Complex in Brasília, is a group of arts venues in the capital's cultural sector. The Federal District's culture secretariat took it over in 2021 and renamed it in 2022, the year Brasília held the title of Ibero-American Capital of Cultures. The complex has three buildings designed by Oscar Niemeyer, linked by a covered walkway, the marquise, itself a cultural space, and it is listed at district and national level along with other Brasília landmarks. It holds the 214-seat Cássia Eller music hall, opened in 1977 as the Sala Funarte and renamed in 2002; the semi-arena Plínio Marcos Theatre with 517 seats, opened on 13 March 1991 as a home for amateur theatre; and the Fayga Ostrower art gallery. It is a good place to catch a local concert or play at moderate prices; check the programme.
