Fonte Grande State Park is a nature reserve created on 7 August 1986 in Vitória, covering 260 hectares across the Fonte Grande, Mulundú, Santa Clara, Pedra do Vigia, Bastos and Pedra dos Olhos hills in the central massif of Vitória Island. It is the city's last large continuous area of Atlantic Forest hillside vegetation, on rugged ground of valleys and rocky peaks. Its highest point, 308.8 metres, stands by the radio and television towers, and many springs and spouts flow on its slopes. The park has three entrances, two for walkers from the Fradinhos district and the centre, and a road up for vehicles. Its summits give wide views over Vitória Island, its bay and its bridges, so it suits nature walkers who want to stay within the city; check which trails are open.
