Marbella's promenade is the holiday's daily artery: a palm walk tracking the beaches for kilometres from the town marina westward — chiringuito after chiringuito (beach restaurants with their grilled fish), sand playgrounds, and holidaymakers of all Europe and the Gulf in an unresting parade of walking, running and strollers. Its secret is continuity: with long breath the walk (or bike) runs west to Puerto Banús itself — the famous Golden Mile stroll, a purely maritime ninety minutes past the front's palaces and beaches. It is Marbella without tickets or programmes: sport at morning, beach at noon, ice cream at dusk, parade at sunset — the sea binding all of it.
